Backlog, sprints and board

Sprints say when work happens; areas say what part of the product it belongs to. The backlog, the sprint page and the board are three views of the same work items.

Backlog

All unfinished work, with the upcoming sprints alongside as drop targets. An item stays on it when planned into a sprint (the Sprint column says which) and leaves when it is done.

  1. Pick the level to plan at: Epics, Features or Stories (the default). Each row opens to show what is under it; Expand all opens every row.
  2. Drag a row onto a sprint to plan it, or use the row's Move to… from the keyboard.
  3. Tick rows to change many at once.

Filters keep matching items and the parents above them. Completed adds the items that are done.

Sprints

A rail of every sprint runs down the side (the active one selected, completed ones folded away), with the selected sprint beside it.

Creating and running a sprint

Lead

  1. Choose New sprint. Name, Goal, Start and End, optionally the team's Capacity in hours, and a Parent iteration to nest it (Release 2\Sprint 5; two levels at most).
  2. Fill it. Drag from the backlog, use Move to…, or for a sprint not yet started take Suggested scope: rules size a sprint's worth of backlog work, AI explains the choice, and you add it in one step.
  3. Run the Plan check. Rules flag items with no estimate, no description, too large for a sprint, or blocked. AI can also read titles and descriptions for what rules can't judge; it never produces a figure.
  4. Start it from the sprint's header.
  5. Complete it at the end: unfinished work goes to the backlog or the next sprint, and you can write a retrospective anyone on the project can read.

Moving an item in or out of a sprint is recorded as a scope change on both sprints.

Sprint views

ViewWhat it shows
Plan (default)A breakdown by state group, the burndown against the ideal line, velocity (committed against completed per sprint), then the items.
StandupOne day, person by person: what moved, what is open, what is next. The day and person are in the address. Ask AI for a written summary of the round. Standups are kept per sprint and day and removed 30 days after the sprint ends.
InsightsHeadline figures, the decisions that need making (each with its items and the one thing to do), and who carries what. AI adds a headline, summary and next steps when asked.

Board

The active sprint by default; choose another sprint or All work from the toolbar. Every control is in the address, so a filtered board is a shareable link.

Only moves the workflow allows are accepted; a refused drop puts the card back with "That move was not allowed."
