Timesheets
Timesheets is where you log your week across every project at once. It is the same record as Log work on a work item. It appears for everyone with a resource profile.
Logging your week
- Open Timesheets. The week runs Monday to Sunday, one row per work item, with day totals along the bottom and the week total at the end. Previous and next move a week.
- Add an item if its row isn't there. The picker switches between items assigned to you and any item in your projects; search by title or by number (
#101188). - Click a cell to see that day's entries for the item, and add one: either a start and end time or a number of minutes, a note of up to 500 characters, and a billable switch that starts on the project's default.
- Save. Each cell shows the day's time as
2h 30m, with a count when there are several entries.
The rules
They show before you save, and the server enforces the same ones.
| Rule | What you see |
|---|---|
| A day above 8 hours | The day tints as a warning. You can still save. |
| A day above 12 hours across all projects | The save is blocked. One entry is also at most 12 hours. |
| Overlapping start and end times on one day, across projects | Refused. |
| A future date | Refused. |
| A range that runs past midnight | Refused; log the rest on the next day. |
| A locked month | Months before the previous one are read only, with the reason shown, unless you can edit everyone's time on that project. |
The Team tab
LeadOwner The Team tab appears for anyone who can see everyone's time on at least one project.
- Pick a project to see every active member's totals for the week.
- Open a member's week in the same grid, and edit, delete or log on their behalf, locked months included.
How logs change a work item
- Before anyone logs time on an item, its Completed (h) is typed by hand.
- The first log makes the item log driven: Completed becomes the sum of its logs, read only. Hours typed before are kept as a carried over log credited to the assignee.
- Remaining (h) counts down as time is logged, never below zero. Deleting a log gives its hours back; deleting the last returns the item to typed-by-hand.
Where logged time shows up
- The project's Team cost: actual cost to date.
- Each person's Utilisation: logged hours on the days they happened, and the share of each week backed by logs.
- The weekly status: who logged work on each workstream.
- Delivery reports: hours logged and the billable share.
